Students' behavioural change and Teacher Change
The problem.
The pandemic has revealed inequalities in education between children from low-income and higher-income households in Hong Kong. Schools in low-income districts generally have had less access to digital learning tools suitable for disadvantaged children's learning needs in various academic subjects, particularly in Chinese and English as a second language. The grasp of Chinese and English as a second language could improve social mobility opportunities of disadvantaged children by encouraging learning and behavioural changes.
The intervention.
mLang is an edtech platform that enables to disadvantaged children to become empowered self-learners in second languages. mLang removes barriers in second language learning by making it interactive, which increases student behavioural and learning outcomes compared to traditional textbook learning. mLang also creates teachers change by supporting teachers to be more creative in devising lesson plans that fit the requirements of the existing school-based curriculums, while also catering to the individual needs of students.
The project.
Shifted provides strategic advisory and support for mLang's transition away from a non-profit structure reliant on grant funding toward a self-sustaining model that is ready for OBF development. This involves working with mLang to improve operational efficiency to enhance outcomes performance. This is to enable mLang to fully shift towards performance-based management to improve OBF readiness.
